From September 26th to September 28th, the 4th International Children's Book Alliance (IBBY) Asia Oceania Regional Conference with the theme of "Children and the Future" was successfully held in Xi'an, the ancient capital of thirteen dynasties and the "City of Books". This conference is hosted by the Children's Books Working Committee of the China Publishing Association, jointly organized by the International Children's Books Alliance China Branch (hereinafter referred to as "CBBY"), China Children's Press and Publication Press, China National Publications Import and Export Corporation, and the Management Committee of Xi'an High tech Industrial Development Zone, and co organized by China National Publications Import and Export Xi'an Co., Ltd. 200 professionals, including children's book writers, illustrators, publishers, reading promoters, and critics from 24 countries and regions including Asia and Oceania, gathered in Xi'an to explore the new future of children's literature creation, publication, and promotion, and contribute their wisdom and strength to promoting the development of children's books with high literary and artistic standards. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 2019, this conference is timely to present a gift to National Day.
In the afternoon of September 25, the "the Belt and Road" Children's Publishing Forum, the bridge of peace for children's reading, was successfully held. Children's writers and publishing experts from China, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Mongolia and other countries along the "the Belt and Road" gathered in Xi'an to contribute their wisdom to creating a new situation of cooperation and exchange and promoting cultural development and prosperity. On the morning of September 26th, the 4th International Children's Book Alliance (IBBY) Asia Oceania Regional Conference officially opened. Wang Hongyan, Executive Secretary of the Central Secretariat of the Communist Youth League and Chairman of the All China Youth Federation, Wu Shulin, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Publishing Association, Gao Hongbo, Vice Chairman of the China Writers Association, Zhao Haiyun, Deputy Director of the Import and Export Administration Bureau of the Central Propaganda Department, Li Zhihui, Deputy Director of the External Promotion Bureau of the State Council Information Office, Zhang Lin, Standing Committee Member of the Xi'an Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department, Zhuang Zhenghua, President of the China Children's Literature Research Association, and Zhang Mingzhou, President of the International Children's Reading Alliance, delivered speeches respectively. Lin Liying, Deputy General Manager of China National Publications Import and Export (Group) Corporation, and Li Linhai, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of China National Publications Import and Export (Xi'an) Co., Ltd., were invited to attend, and all members of Zhongtu Xi'an Company attended.
At the opening ceremony, China National Publications Import and Export Corporation, China National Publications Import and Export Xi'an Co., Ltd., and the Management Committee of Xi'an High tech Industrial Development Zone signed a strategic cooperation agreement and held a book donation ceremony. Zhongtu Xi'an Company will engage in deep cooperation with the High tech Zone Management Committee in areas such as books, technology, and exhibitions to support the development of both parties. At the opening ceremony, a group of talented individuals gathered, attracting numerous students from Xi'an Gaoxin No.1 Middle School, Gaoxin No.2 Middle School, and Yicuiyuan School who love reading. During the tea break, Teacher Jin Bo, Chairman Zhang Mingzhou, and Teacher Cao Wenxuan were surrounded by this group of lovely students who eagerly asked questions and took photos. The expert teachers patiently answered and provided sincere guidance, creating a warm and lively atmosphere on site.
On the afternoon of September 26th and the morning of September 27th, sub forum activities were held with the themes of "Children's Reading and the Future of the World" and "Childhood Experience in Children's Literature Creation". Numerous children's writers, educators, illustrators, publishers, translators, journalists, psychologists, and others express their opinions, care about children's psychological development and future, pay attention to children's education and reading experience, and provide suggestions and recommendations for the high-quality development of children's literature with high artistic quality.
On the morning of September 28th, Zhang Mingzhou, President of the International Children's Book Alliance, Anastasia Akapova, a well-known Russian illustrator and Vice President of the International Children's Book Alliance, and Xue Tao, a well-known Chinese writer, visited the Second School of Xi'an High tech Zone and read the famous children's painting book "Across the River" (written by Xue Tao and illustrated by Anastasia Akapova) on site. The children presented red scarves to the guest teacher and took a friendly photo. The warm eyes, hearty laughter, and sincere questions of the children were the best gifts for the guest teacher. At the reading session, the children were fully focused, and the guest teachers were passionate. The interaction was orderly and warm throughout the entire process.
At the same time, Rose Kinnald, a New Zealand illustrator and author of the picture book "Dinosaur Bus", walked into the flagship store of Yanji Maike Center in Xi'an and interacted warmly with the children on site. Rose was witty and humorous, performing various animal buses for the children on site, and systematically inspiring their creative thinking, guiding them to explore their imagination, and dare to ask questions.
Thus, the meeting came to a successful conclusion. In this conference, the people of Zhongtu Xi'an did their utmost to provide the most intimate and comfortable participation experience for every guest present. This was also an important collective appearance for the youth group of Zhongtu Xi'an Company. Our efforts have been fully recognized by Chairman Zhang Mingzhou of the International Children's Book Alliance (IBBY). Chairman Zhang Mingzhou said, "All employees of the Xi'an company have demonstrated a good sense of professionalism and teamwork, with a friendly attitude and quick response, leaving a warm and beautiful impression on all international guests.
